We have opened three new stores this year and one of them was at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, wedged between the Velodrome and the brand new BMX facility. As someone put it internally, it’s one the company’s best kept secret and we wanted to change that, as it is a unique store. The proximity of these two magnificent facilities is unique to all our other stores and we have been working hard to live up to the expectations.

Store manager Tom White talked about the difficulties they encountered following the opening of the store. Both the Velodrome and the BMX track attracts a very specialized and keen cyclists, but they both have very different backgrounds and needs. Tom, being an ex-Team GB track rider, knows everything about track cycling and there are plenty of knowledge about racing BMXs as well – a couple of weeks ago they build up a bike for Shanaze Reade. After some initial stock issues, now they have plenty of racing BMXs and track bikes and anything you might need for those disciplines.

That, of course, doesn’t mean that that’s all they have got: you can find a full range of road bikes and mountain bikes, as well as hybrids and kids’ bikes and the usual wide selection of clothing, parts and accessories.

Once you satisfied all your needs cycling, you can then visit the Velodrom or the BMX track – both are open to the general public during the day and if you check the timetable prior to your visit, you can see Team GB doing laps on the track or the best BMX riders of the country practicing jumps. While we were there, we saw the Team GB juniors having a team pursuit training and in the other side of the complex, someone was practicing on the start ramp – the big ramp looks pretty scary, for us, everyday cyclists at least!

So if you live around the area, do pay a visit to our store and if you are there for a big event, like the Revolution Series, don’t forget to have a look as we often staly open later on those days!
