Get fit in 6 weeks - week 1

Balint Hamvas, Community Manager - The benchmark ride on Monday was pretty tiring and I think I wasn't really able to recover it before my second ride of the week on Wednesday. Our mild mannered designer, Richard Long took me out on the ride, unbeknownst to me that he used to be racing properly. The implications were grave: I was struggling to keep up with him, even though he scaled the pace back, compared to his normal rides. The rest of the week was busy, so all I could squeeze in was a quick spin on Sunday.

Get fit in 6 weeks - week 1

Mike Tomsett, Content Coordinator - After the intro ride last week I got in my usual commute ride home on Wednesday, taking in a new route for me giving a couple of extra than usual. With the weather being predicted to be a hot one over the weekend I decided to get my ride out of the way in the morning before it got too hot. However a rear puncture suffered on my weekday commute delayed my plans and I didn't get to go as early as I'd hoped! Although I did get out before the midday sun became too hot. I decided on a 15 mile route taking in some roads that I'd never cycled before. It started off nicely and was relatively smooth sailing. I planned to cut through along a small lane that would take me past a local lake; however I didn’t know that the lane was more of an uphill rocky track that would have been more suited to a XC bike! However I got a good view of the lake down the other side before finishing the last few miles home.

Nick Jenkins - Good start, but could defiantly do better!! We did the test loop on the Monday which was ok, all though my legs felt spent after 10 minutes. I rode dirt jumps on the Wednesday night and went for a 2 and half hour XC ride on Thursday night. I had also managed to be sensible with my food intake, but then Bike Radar Live. After setting up on the Friday and long night ensued, followed by Saturday on the stand, one too many beers again that night and a long Sunday, then packing up & heading home. I now have to make up for the weekend, so going to hit the road bike and aiming do 100 mile by the end of the week and maybe fit in a bit of XC and DH.

Get fit in 6 weeks.... my training was to consist of my daily commute (10 miles each way) to work with a long ride home twice a week of about 15-20miles and then a good long ride at the weekend of 3hrs..... So my training started well with the ride home on Monday a nice 10 miles to get the legs spinning and that's where it ended !!! a week of crazy work and then working all weekend at Bike Radar Live scuppered my plans..... this is going to be harder than I had planned why is it work gets in the way of riding your bike !!
