For many of us cycling is not only a leisure activity and a way of keeping fit – it’s a method of transport. Commuting to work is a great way to save money and beat the rush, but it brings with it its own challenges – namely organisation and battling with the conditions.
Especially for the commuters of the country, British Cycling have spent this week sharing advice designed to help them enjoy their riding as the weather turns. We’re supporting them and treating our hardy customers with 3 for 2 on the essentials that will really make a difference.
At Evans Cycles head office, we’ve got ample showers, a storage area for bikes, a drying room for hanging kit after a damp ride in, and every store has shower facilities. Not everyone has that, and our friends at British Cycling offer some great advice for arriving at the office fresh as a daisy.
Of course, all the hot showers in the world couldn’t save us from getting wet on the way. British Cycling have also shared some advice on picking the right clothing and equipment for commuting, such as jackets and rucksacks.
All of this advice can be found in the British Cycling Insights Zone. Much of this is accessible to everyone, but some advice is exclusive to British Cycling members.
By joining British Cycling, members also gain access to content such as a nine month sportive training plan and comprehensive technique videos.
You can buy your British Cycling ‘Ride’ membership from us. Membership costs £28 a year and as well as access to this exclusive content, you’ll also be entitled to insurance, free legal advice and support should you ever need it, as well as discounts at a variety of retailers, weekly newsletters and priority access to events.
If you’re currently riding to work, or thinking about starting out, signing up with our Ride2Work scheme is a great way to save money on a bike. You could save up to 42 per cent, and the savings still apply to sale bikes, giving you the chance to get a really great deal.
