This weekend sees the National Indoor BMX Centre host the opening round of the 2012 National BMX Series; the top level of racing in the UK.
At stake is glory on the day, as well as precious points towards the overall series title. Increasing the pressure in the initial rounds is the chance to qualify for the 2012 World Championships which will be held in Birmingham.
BMX racing has been growing steadily in part thanks to its status as an Olympic sport. With classes for riders as young as six all the way up to 45+ it is a sport for all. The track in Manchester, which is part of the National Cycling Centre, is classed as one of the best facilities in the world, featuring two start hills and separate straights for Elite riders.
The Centre’s 1,500 permanent seats give great views of the action, so spectators should be in for a treat! There’s a pro showcase on Saturday featuring some of Europe’s top riders with the excitement of the National round starting early on Sunday.
Our NCC store has been welcoming BMX riders looking for parts and servicing over the last few weeks as they all look to kick off the new season on top form.
Good luck to all the riders competing this weekend including our very own Josh Nicholas and Joe Davenport.
