Another great RideIt! weekend. Well done to everyone who took part! The Mountain Bike route had some technical areas which posed a refreshing challenge and the Roadies had their fair share of climbs! Feel free to leave your comments on the day below.
Last Minute News before the Ride
The team is out there now, setting up the routes within the dramatic Lake District scenery. We are really looking forward to seeing you there and having a great weekend. Before you set off to RideIt! please read the following advice to participants:
- Parts of the route, especially on the Sportive ride are remote. We advise participants to take spare inner tubes, basic repairs kit and snacks.
- The weather conditions can change fast in the Lakes’ so we advise that all participants come prepared for the conditions be it rain or shine.
- If you are joining us for camping, please request to speak to Dean Stacey or Helen on arrival. Camping is at the event Centre, in Coniston.
We will post rider times here and photos from the weekend next week. Meet other riders attending the ride through the RideIt! Facebook Community.
Routes and GPX Files

Information about the Ride
The Lake District has some of the most dramatic scenery in the UK. Cycling through this landscape, you will be anything but disappointed. Based out of Coniston just west of the Lake and below The Old Man, the routes take in the trails and roads between Lake Windermere and Coniston. With beautiful views over the surrounding countryside in every direction, this RideIt! is pretty special.
As a RideIt! first as we offer you the chance to stay in the hearth of the breath-taking Lake District National Park and RideIt! for two days! You can make a weekend of it and Mountain Bike on Saturday, camp overnight and do the Road Sportive Sunday. We offer hire bikes too so that you do not have to worry about bringing a separate bike for each day.
We offer you two days of cycling enjoyment to choose from with Mountain Bike riding on the Saturday and Road Sportive on Sunday. You can make a weekend of it by camping for as a little £10 per tent, per night and £2 per person. Contact dean.stacey@evanscycles.com
Meet other people taking part in the ride through the RideIt! Facebook community.

Smile?!?…..have you seen the weather forecast?
:-\
If you smile we’ll be able to see your teeth reflecting in the flash and you can then identify your self in all the rainfilled photos!!
Seriously though, the weather changes every hour up here and the local weather forecast is not too bad for the week end.
Yesterday I was on top of a hill side in the sunshine ( got a bit of a tan) Today it’s pretty much rained all day.
We’ll have to see what the weekend brings.

Is there anywhere you can view the route if you don’t have gps software, as I am not sure whether to do the short or medium sportive. In future it would be handy to post a proposed route up in advanced as per other sportives so you can access whicih route you fancy.
Hi Simon
If you decide you would like to change your route on the day, this is fine, just let us know and we can update your rider time and information on the day. Thank you for your feedback Simon. Thankyou to all the hardworking Evans staff for putting on a thoroughly enjoyable mountain bike ride in the Lakes yesterday (saturday). The quality of Evans Ride It events blows away other over priced sportives that I have attended. Brilliant work, keep it up..thanks!
I have just returned from a fantastic weekends camping and cycling in the lake district. This was made possible by the hard work and commitment of Dean and the rest of the ride it team.I rode both the mountain bike and road long routes and found the planning, mapping,on route food drink and support were all second to none. All the members of staff were extremely helpful and friendly and i will definitely be attending more ride it events.Once again a big thanks for a great weekend, even though my legs are still complaining.
