Every now and again, it can be very hard to work in the cycling industry. For example, on Wednesday, I had to go to Central London to Red Bull’s flashy office building and I had to check out Charge’s all-new lineup. Moreover, I had to talk to some nice people and were offered some drinks. I know, I know, I’m not in an enviable position.
On a more serious note though, the bikes looked really good. There were over 20 bikes, so I picked and photographed three that were the most interesting.
Not many companies produce steel frames anymore – Charge carries on using steel as their prime frame material. And not only the material but the colour schemes are also very retro.
A fixed gear fashion statement with incredible paintjob – when I voiced my concerned about the durability of the paint, they assured me that the actual bikes (this was a pre-production one) will get proper protection, so they can remain looking awesome longer.
I won’t lie about the fact that I’m absolutely crazy about anything that has anything to do with cyclo-cross. So I loved this bike immediately. Charge have launched a range of cyclo-cross bikes, the one below is the most basic version, which is ideal for commuting – it comes right away with semi-knobby tyres, mudguard and a triple chainring for those who live near Muswell hill.
