The new Evans Cycles store in Edinburgh, opening on April 2nd, was officially signed off from the builders on Tuesday 27th March.

With the staff now busy preparing theshop for opening day, we thought it was time to introduce you to the team.

Heading up the new store is Manager Mark McGhee who has been with the company for six years and has previously worked with Edinburgh Bicycle Co-  op and Thomsons Cycles in Glasgow. Mark has tried most disciplines of cycling over the years but having reached the conclusion that he’s rubbish at mountain biking is now a confirmed roadie and likes nothing better than big road challenges. He completed London to Paris last June in 23 hours and 43 minutes in the company of Mark Beaumont and a small select team of hard riders.

The new Assistant Manager is Fraser Glass who also comes through from the Braehead store. Fraser has been with the company for two years and before that was with Alpine Bikes. He’s an expert in all things BMX but has also found himself becoming ever more attracted to road bikes. On a recent training ride he described the BMC Team Machine as “the best ride of his life.” He also loves MTB’s, especially the more exotic and off-beat.

Our Head Mechanic is Darek who originally hails from Poland and has been with Evans Cycles for the last nine years. He has worked almost exclusively in our St Paul’s branch in Covent Garden and has the reputation within the company for running the most efficient workshop. His standards are very exacting and he makes sure his team live up to them. He’s a great all-rounder and will be seen riding to and from the store every day of the year.

Our Supervisor is Andy Mawer who also moves across from the Braehead store having worked at the Gateshead branch before that. Andy’s emphasis is on delivering great customer service and he’ll be a very visible welcome face within the store. He is the perfect ‘quiet gentleman’ in terms of his cycling preferring instead to let his legs do the talking. He’s just as likely to be found tearing around the trails at Glentress as he is to be flying up the Tak-Me-Doon road above Kilsyth.

We’ve got a host of deals to celebrate the new store, so click here to download them, and staff will be offering free bike safety checks from April 2nd – 8th.
