Hi all.
After a 2 weekend break we’re back at it again this weekend
Back to one of our favourite areas, the North downs and one of our favourite centres – The Priory School in Dorking. Although they threw me a bit of a curve ball a couple of days ago with a phone call saying that we couldn’t use the usual area with the kitchens as they are being refitted and are full of asbestos. Work started today!! We are back to the 6th form centre and limited cooking facilities so bear with us as we cook up the chilli/pasta/pasties but hopefully you won’t notice a difference.
Getting there. The Postcode takes you to the school via a dead end so please follow the Evans signs and don’t turn right to soon down the dead end. (West Bank)
This was due to be the weekend of the Big Bike Bash, which for reasons not worth going into, was cancelled. So this is a standard Ride It with standard routes. One of the left overs of the BBB is that I had booked all the riding staff it to set out the courses this weekend, so I had one spare marker – me. To help the guys out I got on the MTB an put out the Long loop today, it’s been a long time coming! The Downs are in good condition, being dry and well drained ( and should stay that way with little rain due) so the going should be pretty fast. There’s some big ups and fast downs and a lot of great views, especially from Leith Hill tower, the highest point in the South East of England, so enjoy.
The road ride come in a little shorter than the stated distances but there’s some good hills in there to make up for it, including two hills that are on the Olympic road route ( Box Hill and Combe Bottom ) Again there’s loads of climbing and descending and great views all along the route and with the good weather due ( Jinxed it! I can hear the rain heading to Dorking already) it should be a great day.
Before I get to the GPX routes, the usual warning.
These rides are NOT races. Please ride to the highway or countryside code, give way to cars, horses and walkers you may find on your route. Roadies – please take care on descents and blind corners there may be a car around the corner and they have every right to be there as well. Only ride more than one abreast where it is safe to do so – this does not include twisty country roads
We do not insure you and your actions and consequences are entirely your responsibility.
Right, here’s the GPX files for you.
Hosted at Trailzilla, you will need to sign in but this will also allow you to see a map of the route.
See you there.
Dean

Hi,
Do you have the map for the fun 12 mile ride? Could you post with the other maps?
Cheers
Jules
Can I confirm places on the day are available for the MTB?
Thanks
Hi Jules
I’m afraid I don’t have a GPX route for the fun ride, you will get a copy on the day though.
Nick, plenty of space available at this one – no problems with parking

Another great fantastically organised ride by Dean and the Evans team. What great trails and scenery. I Landed up doing the medium route with a slight navigational error visiting the last drinks station first……I guess I got extra cake for that!
Thanks again
Hi guys
Good work on the event today. Excellent signage – I wish that other sportives had the same standards! Good route too – you managed to avoid many of the boring big roads, and the big climbs of the area were all covered.
If I had to nit pick, I’d suggest putting the first feed station somewhere a bit more quiet and scenic, like the second station on the long route.
Otherwise, nice work. Looking forward to the next one.

Hi All
BIG thank-you to Keith / Kevin who lent me his drink bottle as I’d left mine at home! Did think there would have been bottles for sale, being an Evans event.
Sinage was excellent and route interesting as JP says (I did the full ride), although early on I wondered if I was on the MTB route as so many potholes!
