IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hi All.

We have put the MTB routes out and the guys have come back fairly dry……. I know, who’d have thought it!! The GPX/TCX files are now live so follow your link in your email to the folders. As mentioned before, we have had to change the route due to a bridge closure – this was communicated to pre-registered riders via email and we subsequently changed the event description. Now we have put the routes out we can confirm that the short is up to 19miles, and the Meduim/Long routes stay roughly the same distance but with a bit more road.

Please also read all the info below.

Hi All.

A nice day in the saddle riding the long Road section!!  It’s a great loop with some good climbs and finishes with a 5mile descent! The roads are not in great condition in places so please keep and eye out for potholes……..

On to the nitty gritty.

PLEASE BRING YOUR HELMET TO REGISTRATION. You will not be able to register without it and you’ll have to go back to your car to retrieve it.

PARKING

There is parking on site but not enough for all of you. Once this is full we have overflow parking in Harewood house ( don’t go there first as the gate will be locked) We will put up signs and marshals to direct you there but basically it’straight across the traffic lights, under the arch and turn right. YOU MUST NOT PARK ON THE ROAD. It will be coned off and if you do try and park there the Police will give you a fixed penalty fine. The overflow parking is literally a 2 minute walk or 30second ride and has plenty of room to spread out, unlike a busy road.

Registration

This is in the sports hall, follow signs to registration. There are loos and showers there ( hopefully they will be warm – I have asked….)

URINATION.

I can’t quite believe I have to say this but based on last year it seems I do. Please DO NOT URINATE at the drink stations. It is unhygienic for other riders and my staff. There is miles of countryside out there and it’s not a race. Make it more pleasant for everyone by nipping behind a bush somewhere else. This is especially important at the Sportive drink station in the Pub Car Park. They have kindly let us use the pub, you can pop in for a Tea or Coffee, so please do not reward this by peeing all over their car park. If you are seen doing this we will take your number and you will not be allowed to enter any more Ride It events!!!

MTB

I won’t know what it’s like until tomorrow but it’s likely to be MUDDY so I’d prep your bike with some knobblies.

We have emailed everyone who had pre entered before we had to change the route and then made a note on the web page, but I’ll just mention again. There is a Bridge out on the route that has meant a major change in route. This has added a few miles on to routes and a more road based mix.

It’s not a race!

Please give way to other trail users, walkers, horse riders etc. If you come across a Horse, please let the rider know you are there in plenty of time and follow their instructions. Remember, if you spook the horse it might hurt you or other people and you are responsible for you actions and the consequences!!

SPORTIVE

The roads are in winter conditions. I saw the odd pothole today but nothing particularly bad. I’d make sure you have a way to repair at least two punctures with you. We will come to your aid but it might take us a while depending upon where the vans are, much better to be prepared.

Drink stations

The first drink station is about 15 miles in and is slightly off the Medium and Long routes. If you wish to visit it and you are on the Long or Medium routes then we will mark it at the Short split. From here it’s 200mtrs up the road, but you will need to turn around at the drink station to return to the split, if you carry straight on you’ll end up on the Short.  The Long splits off at the second drink station and does a complete loop back to the same drink station. PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW THE SPLIT SIGNS A SECOND TIME. It’s a long loop to do twice!!

Long loop is closed at 1pm as it’s  30miles in – last start time is 9.45am

Distances are approx.

Short -28miles

Medium -50miles

Long -74miles

Drink stations are approximately at:-

Short, medium, long – 15miles (Medium and Long – if you want to – see above)

Medium,long – 30miles

Long – 55 miles

This is not a race!!

Please obey the highway code, stop at junctions and only ride two abreast where it is safe to do so – not on main roads or winding country lanes where cars travelling at speed will not be able to see you and stop!!!! If you cause and accident, you are responsible for the consequences and any costs.

Maps

You will get a hard copy at registration.

GPX files

Everyone who has pre-entered will have received a pre-event mail that has links to the GPX files and a guide to show you have to view them interactively. If you have not received this by 7pm tonight please check you junk folder, old accounts, your partners email if they booked and make sure you check the address you booked with! These are all common causes for not getting the mail. If you still don’t have them then email me on dean.stacey@evanscycles.com I’ll check your entry and send you a copy.

See you all there!
