Sportive Rider Times

Hi All

What a weekend!! 1120 riders over the two days, about 500 burgers cooked and some glourious sunshine!

Rider Times – Regular riders will have noticed the new timing system we had at the weekend. This will make things a lot easier in the future ( and save my washing machine the task of cleaning 500 sweaty/muddy ankle straps after events ) but at the weekend it was all new and fresh for the team, some of whom had only seen it for the first time an hour before your MTBers arrived on Saturday morning!  We had a bit of a blip with it on Sunday morning and spoke to the manufacturers, who didn’t know what it was. Mark has driven to Milton Keynes this morning to get it sorted ( All times should be backed up and during the blip we were double backing up) but this means that he will be a bit late back and setting to work on the times. We hope to get them up later tonight/tomorrow. In future we will have a key pad that you can enter your number and get your time printer out imediately, just let us get used to the basics first!

Thanks

Dean

REMINDER – CLOCKS.

Sportive riders – clocks go forward on Sunday so 8.30am will be 9.30am etc. Last start WILL BE 10.30am after the clock change ( 9.30am pre change), don’t be late as we can’t hold off stripping the course.

Right, long day ahead buying food and sorting out the final bits for the weekend…..

PARKING

As we have mentioned, once or twice, the Sportive is sold out and there are quite a lot of you Mountain Bikers booked on too, so parking is going to be tight. Please follow the directions of the marshals and park CLOSE to the car next to you. If we do manage to fill the site, then you will be directed to some nearby on-raod car parking a couple of hundred meters away.

BRING YOUR HELMET TO REGISTRATION

Wearing a helmet on our rides is compulsory. But now there is another reason to bring your helmet – our new timing system! We will be placing a small timing chip to your helmet at registration so please make sure you bring it along with you. This will be the first time we use the system so please bear with us as we get to grips with it!

QUEUES

With so many riders entering the event we will be at full stretch to process you through registration. This is especially bad on the Sportive on Sunday where riders tend to turn up early en masse and then all dive for registration when it opens at 8am. If 400 of you are there at 8am it doesn’t matter how many staff we have, you are going to queue!! Please be patient, we are working as fast as we can ( roughly one every 16 seconds!)

FINDING YOUR NAME

The registration list will be in alphabetical order of the SURMANE of the rider who BOOKED the ride. If you supplied multiple names  then I have chosen the most obvious. If you didn’t supply a name, I took it from you email address. If this wasn’t possible I have put your email address. ( roll on a new booking system!!) If you booked multiple names then the booking rider will be above blank spaces, please fill in the missing names here,

NOT A RACE

These rides are not races. Please follow the highway/countryside code. Give way to other road/trail users and be polite. Roadies, do not ride two abreast where it is not safe to do so and keep your speed down and bike under control into blind corners. MTB riders, there are a lot of HORSE RIDERS in the area. Please slow down and STOP when you meet a horse, follow the instructions of the rider. Remember, you have complete (ish) control of your bike, they won’t have control of a spooked tonne of  horse which can injure you/them/the horse. Think of it this way, you pass the horse once, they get passed 400 times. YOU are responsible for your actions and their concequences, if you cause and accident then you are liable for the costs.

GPX files. Have been sent to all entrants who supplied an email address, if you have not received this, please check you junk filter. There will be a computer at the event that will have the routes on it to down load – we have a lead but bring your own if it’s anything odd.

See you all there for a great weekend.

Update 20/3

The SPORTIVE is now full. We are/have removed the product from sale and will not be accepting any on the day entries, so if you do not have an entry as yet, sorry but please do not come along to the event as it will cause chaos with parking.

The MTB is still open at the moment, but will be closed if we get too many entries so book soon.

Update 19/3

On the Day entries for the SPORTIVE on SUNDAY  will now NOT be available. There are a few pre-entry places left, but be quick as these will sell out.  Please do not come along on the day hoping to get an entry, we simply do not have the parking to cope with any extra numbers and this will cause chaos in the village.

The MTB is fine for both pre and on the day bookings at the moment.

Hi All.

With just a week to go it looks like we are going to have a full house on the Sportive, There are about 50 places left and then we will be closing down pre-booking and not accepting on the day entries. So my advice is to book SOON!!!

The MTB is still fine at the moment, but we might have to close entries if it takes off before the weekend, so book now.
